Big news for 1RM Performance

The hardest part about growing a small business and being busy is trying to stay up to date with everything that is involved. For those of you that haven’t noticed, no articles have been written and published for the past few months. It’s been so long that I had to remind Melissa how to log on to the website! But with that being said, we have some exciting news at 1RM.... but you are going to have to wait (if you really want to skip what's been happening the past few months, just scroll to the bottom of this page).

Now don’t go thinking we are being lazy, or unmotivated; it is just the opposite! We have been slammed by life, learning, and doing our best to have a positive impact on everyone associated with the 1RM Performance family.

Personally, my older sister, Joanna Leigh (congalton) Hali, got married in May, and I finally have a brother, Scott Hali.

The weekend before the wedding, I took a trip to San Jose, and jumped head first into the world of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization “DNS” (also known as baby shit by a few athletes). DNS is the most powerful/in-depth way of viewing movement I have ever found. It has opened my eyes to my own dysfunction, opened my mind to an even greater understanding of movement dysfunction and taught me new avenues to correct the dysfunction. It continues to challenge my brain to find ways to make my athletes more aware, educated, and monster-like. If you have talked to me about movement since my exposure to DNS, then you know what I am talking about. I can’t get enough of it. I can honestly say that because of Dr. Mike Rintala and the awesome instructors from Prague, my eyes, mind, and life as a strength coach is forever changed! Thanks!

This just supports the idea that continuing education is the most important thing we can do as strength coaches.

Melissa has been dominating the sporting world here in SD. She won her triple AAA (semi pro volleyball ranking) back in May, with her partner Heather Dunn. She has really created a name for herself this summer, and continues to strive for her goal. With the volleyball career progressing, she was offered a tryout with the USA rugby 7’s team. If you know Melissa, she obviously showed up without knowing how to play the game, showed off her 1RM Performance style athletic abilities, and was offered the opportunity to train with the team and see how quickly she could pick up the game. She made her first appearance on the Pitch (the rugby field) in September against the Brazilian National team.  No, this is not a joke! Not bad, huh?

Between training at the Olympic Training Center, spending time on the Volleyball court, and training athletes, she hasn’t much time to sit down and breathe!

Our athletes have been making some pretty awesome gains as well. Some are heading off to college, others are preparing for high school tryouts, and quite a few are taking official and unoffical visits to Divsion I schools.

And now the big news. We have offically signed a lease at our own facility. We were previously renting space from seperate baseball and softball facilities, but now we will be under the same roof in one central location. Our vision from 2 years ago is starting to finally come true! If you have a vision, stick to it, let it be part of what defines you, and own it! Don’t let anything get in your way!

Needless to say, this is a very exciting time in our lives! Thank you everyone that has been here for the Journey! We will be having an open house soon, and you can bet there will be a lot of thank yous, hugs and coaches/athletes being dunked in a dunk tank when it’s all said and done! Yes, we will have a dunk tank at the open house. Stay tuned...
